Rene Baergen
Rene Baergen was installed in September as interim Pastor of Hispanic Ministry with primary responsibility for the Spanish-language group within the congregation. Rene has been a pastoral intern previously and has been active at First Mennonite in a leadership capacity for some time. He is a doctoral student in New Testament at the Toronto School of Theology and has taught most recently at seminaries in Toronto and Lima, Peru. He is an impassioned teacher and a compassionate preacher who seeks to wrestle with the Biblical witness in ways that are alert to the Biblical text and life-giving to the people of God.

Catherine Hunsberger
Catherine began ministry at First Mennonite Church in 2005. Previously she had been the pastor at Rainham Mennonite Church, Selkirk, ON. After completing her BA degree at University of Waterloo, Catherine pursued studies in the Masters of Divinity program at Waterloo Lutheran Seminary, Waterloo ON and Associated Mennonite Biblical Seminary, Elkhart, IN. She has served the Mennonite denomination in a number of ways as committee member and staff person.
Her gifts include teaching, preaching, planning and leading worship and working with children.

Gary Knarr
Gary began ministry at First Mennonite in 2002 after teaching History at Montana State University. Earlier, he served as pastor in the Elmira and Hawkesville congregations. He completed studies at Queen's University, University of Waterloo, Associated Mennonite Biblical Seminary, and Wilfrid Laurier University. Gary also worked in Voluntary Service in Eureka, Illinois.
The gifts he brings include pastoral care, preaching and teaching.

Anna Janecek
Anna has been a member at FMC since 1997 and has been actively involved in the worship and music life of this congregation throughout that time. She is excited to be stepping into this leadership role, sharing the position of interim pastor of worship and music with Catherine, to help oversee our transition to a new worship planning model.
Anna's background includes extensive study and leadership in music and worship, including degrees from Canadian Mennonite Bible College, Conrad Grebel College at the University of Waterloo and the University of Toronto. She is currently enrolled in a Master of Sacred Music program at Emmanuel College in Toronto. Her gifts in supporting and enabling congregational singing and in exploring issues of cultural diversity in worship are central parts of her ministry at First.
