Hispanic Ministry

The Hispanic community at First Mennonite Church is made up of people from Central and South America. First Mennonite celebrated the 25th anniversary of its Hispanic ministry in March of 2011.

The service in Spanish takes place every Saturday at 6:00 p.m after which the community often shares refreshments or a fellowship meal.

We offer a Spanish-language Bible study every Sunday morning during the Sunday School hour (9:30-10:30 a.m.) and hold Christian formation and church membership classes whenever there are new participants interested in baptism or transfer of membership into the congregation.

There are three committees that work together with the Pastor of Hispanic Ministry to coordinate the congregation’s multicultural vision. The Directiva, the committee charged with giving leadership to the Hispanic group, plans and facilitates the activities of the Hispanic community. The Worship Committee is responsible for planning and leading the Saturday services. The Social Committee plans the social activities of the group and coordinates fundraising events.
